Overview

Hoddywell Cottage were looking for a website that accurately reflected the authentic heritage experience that it provides patrons. The previous website was also using a Content Management System (CMS) that was making it difficult to edit website content quickly and independently.

Hoddywell were looking for a revamped look with all the features of a clean, seamless website. They also wanted maximum control and autonomy in content editing.

We efficiently migrated all previous website content onto Webflow CMS, resulting in total content ownership and empowerment for website editors. 

We also reorganised the structure, layout and look of the site to reflect the authentic Hoddywell experience

Located in the historic Toodyay district, Hoddywell Cottage is a charming, peaceful accommodation option. They sought an easy-to-edit website that would effectively showcase the cottage’s unique features whilst providing all essential information to potential guests. 

With a secluded vibe, and just under an hour from Perth CBD, Hoddywell offers an exceptional accommodation experience, so it was crucial that the website conveyed its distinctiveness throughout both its written content and visual design. Nestled within 7.5 acres of pristine natural bushland, this self-contained cottage provides a serene retreat from the demands of everyday life. Its heritage-listed status and distinctive handmade mud-brick construction highlights its rich history as a settler’s cottage. 

In addition to showcasing the quality accommodation, the website features information on key activities in the surrounding Toodyay area, allowing visitors to consider exploring the local attractions. To ensure a seamless user experience (UX), the website needed to facilitate the booking process and provide comprehensive information on the accommodation's features.

  • A detailed list of features to highlight the comforts and amenities available to guests.

We added a bit of flair via animations on the website, without the need for custom code, to enhance the visual appeal and overall engagement of the site. There were many benefits to a modern site layout for Hoddywell with features such as large imagery, animations, and subtle interactions to guide and enhance UX.  All these features contributed to a more seamless user experience for individuals looking to book Hoddywell, and understand the accommodation features. 

By achieving these objectives, the website aimed to inform and engage users, ultimately simplifying the booking process and showcasing the very distinct accommodation experience that Hoddywell offers.

Process

We began the project by assessing the existing website and identified the pain points associated with the previous CMS, as well as Hoddywell’s main goals. This analysis helped us ultimately understand the requirements and objectives for the new website. Once we were clear on project direction, we aligned the original brief to a package – including technology type, timeline, and delivery. 

We then developed a comprehensive plan to migrate the website to Webflow CMS. Webflow was chosen as the most suitable CMS due to its easy to manage content administration and clean features. The migration involved transferring all the existing content, redesigning website layout, and integrating the necessary (and removing unnecessary) features for a seamless user experience (UX)

Finally, we then focused on smoothly migrating website content. We then conducted testing to ensure functionality, and overall user experience met Hoddywell Cottage’s standards Once complete, we ensured staff were trained in updating / editing content independently and confidently. We also worked collaboratively, to allow Hoddywell to modify designs alongside Dapth guidance and review. Once finalised and approved, we launched the refreshed website.
